ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Potential for full time employment POSITION SUMMARY This position is an entry level, temporary/seasonal position. The position will primarily assist and work in a variety of situations, projects and assignments. Tasks and functions normally assigned to this level are generally routine in nature and any deviations or decisions from routine are generally assisted or approved by upper level staff. The examples of work listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The class specifications are intended to be a general indication of duties and levels of difficulty and responsibility common to all positions in the class and therefore are not all inclusive of all work which may be required. NOTE: This position is intended for seasonal part-time employees. Employee benefits for vacation, sick leave, pension, hospitalization, life insurance, and other benefits provided to permanent employees of the Authority are not provided to employees hired for this position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: MAINTENANCE POSITIONS: Assist with routine preventive maintenance and repair to existing buildings, machinery and equipment. Work may be performed on such process equipment such as raw water pumps, digester mixing equipment, digester boilers, high service pumps, remote control valves and storage tank equipment. Utilizes O&M manuals, technical publications and manufacturers specs under while repairing equipment under supervision. Performs general maintenance to grounds including mowing, edging, weed eating, digging, and operation of related equipment. May perform general housekeeping and a wide variety of janitorial services as required. Assists with carpentry, painting, plumbing, grounds and welding work. Demonstrates proper use and safe operation of hand tools and power tools. Assist with maintaining thorough and complete process records and logs. Observes all safety guidelines and security measures established by the Authority. May perform other duties as assigned. OPERATIONS POSITIONS Participate in project team meetings and discussions. Assist with monitoring plant operations, instrumentation and laboratory test results. Assist with taking samples at various points in the plant process. Responsible for general housekeeping. Under the direction of a C level or greater operator, may assist with adjusting plant flows and treatment process conditions. Assist with maintaining thorough and complete process records and logs. May perform other duties as assigned. UTILITY MAINTENANCE POSITIONS: Assist with routine preventive maintenance and repair to existing wastewater collections system infrastructure. Work may include but is not limited to cleaning and televising large diameter pipelines; performing confined space entries, walking pipelines, and documenting problems. Assist with repairs and/or replaces manhole covers, frames and vaults. May assist with industrial maintenance type duties to include rough carpentry, plumbing, welding, metal fabrication, and basic electrical repairs. Assist with documentation and record-keeping activities and work performed and data entry into the computerized maintenance management system. Observe, record and report potential problem areas and any unusual or accidental spills or discharges into the collection system or receiving streams. May conduct visual surveillance of the collection system for discharge, sunken areas, ground cracks along pipeline routes, vandalism, structure damages, etc. May perform other duties as assigned.
