Tulsa County is offering a full-time position in Tulsa, OK with a salary of $14.08 hourly. The job is located in the Parks - LaFortune Park department and has a continuous closing date. Job Description

All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. Essential Job Functions: Operate tractor with various attachments and other mowers to mow turf areas, such as lawns, playing fields, greens, aprons, ties and fairways. Run loaders to remove dirt, debris and other materials; drive trucks to haul material and refuse; operate backhoe, trencher, and portable pumps as needed. Maintain, lubricate and adjust equipment; sharpen mower blades. Grade and prepare base, lay sod and seeds. Perform all duties of a Maintenance II - labor position when not operating equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Job Description Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Skills in operating tractors with various attachments and other mowers; in operating trucks and other equipment; in operating various types of power equipment and hand tools; in operating chemical application equipment and leading community service workers. Knowledge of the mechanical operation of trucks and other motorized equipment; of general construction and maintenance methods; of the hazards and safety precaution of the work; of departmental policies and procedures; and of general park maintenance. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; to operate trucks and other motorized equipment; to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods; to use hand and mechanical tools and equipment; and to read and understand chemical labels. Supervisory Responsibilities: Occasionally assist in supervising up to 6 employees in Park Maintenance in the absence of the supervisor. Also, may oversee small work crews. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education equivalent to graduation from a four year high school or general education degree (GED) and three years satisfactory, full time paid employment in park maintenance and construction work involving the operation of tractors, trucks, mowers and other equipment. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
