Surface Maintenance Mechanic
As a Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-10, you will perform the following duties: Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures. Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations. Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment. May maintain and repair electronics communication equipment. Requirements: Ohio Army National Guard Membership is required. Military Grades: E3 through E8 Other Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment of the Gun Control Act of 1968. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers. Irregular and/or overtime compensatory hours may be required. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations. Qualifications: General Experience: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. Specialized Experience: Experience or training leading to a thorough knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Education: This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information: ***If serving under an incentive contract, termination of that incentive(s) will occur effective one day prior to your AGR, Permanent Military Technician, or Indefinite Military Technician start date. Temporary Military Technicians will have their incentive terminated if their tour exceeds 179 days in a continuous 12-month period.
