Perform sample setup, culturing (blood, bone marrow, and biopsy), harvesting, slide preparation, and various staining techniques (Giemsa, Q-, R-, C-banding, NOR).
Conduct detailed microscopic analysis and karyotyping using automated systems.
Carry out Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) processing and analysis.
Ensure specimen integrity throughout all phases of processing.
Maintain laboratory equipment and monitor environmental controls (CO levels, liquid nitrogen, hoods, etc.).
Document procedures accurately and assist in the training of new lab personnel.
Participate in quality control, new test validation, and research initiatives.
What You Bring
Bachelors degree in a Life Science field.
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist in Cytogenetics (ASCP or equivalent) is required.
Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex chromosomal patterns.
Comfortable working with biohazardous materials and standing or sitting for extended periods.
Excellent organizational and data management skills, including LIS proficiency.
Willingness to stay current on developments in cytogenetics and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
