6G Research Position

This position is responsible for conducting research on PHY technologies for 6G and beyond standards and attending the corresponding standards meetings. The successful candidate will conduct research on wireless physical layer technologies for the standards, including theoretical analysis, innovative technical solution design and simulation. The successful candidate will attend the corresponding standard meetings such as 3GPP RAN1 meetings, drive the research results to improve the standards, guide, or suggest technology development and industrial roadmaps towards a healthy global standards ecosystem. Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as in a team setting. The candidate will work closely with other teams in Futurewei. The candidate will have an active role in advanced research projects with external partners. Requirements include, but are not limited to: PhD in EE or equivalent, with 3+ years of wireless experience with wireless physical layer algorithm research & system level/link level simulation experience in the wireless telecommunications industry or academia. Technical expertise and experience in wireless physical layer protocol design, simulation, and optimization for standards; strong technical expertise in wireless 5G technologies, including OFDM/OFDMA, MIMO, interference control, signal and channel design, and advanced algorithm design and implementation. AI/ML for wireless networks experience with focus on physical layer a plus Hands-on experience with one or more wireless communication systems, GSM, UMTS, LTE, LTE-A, NR, WiFi; experience with IMT-Advanced/2020 FDD or TDD systems is preferable. Good understanding of higher layers (such as lower MAC layer) and experience in jointly designing physical layer and MAC layer. Good knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies for wireless systems in industry and academia. Experience in product realization design or receiver algorithm design is preferable. Good teamwork spirit and adaptability. Having work in a dynamic, innovative, and research-oriented environment a plus Traveling to US and other global locations for standards activities required.
