The Principal OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Specialist leads the development, implementation, and improvement of the OEE system across Ascend's manufacturing network. This role identifies and mitigates equipment-related risks to drive safe, efficient, and reliable operations that meet internal production goals and customer expectations. Targeted Outcomes Improved unit and enterprise performance tied to business goals, including raw material efficiency, energy optimization, asset reliability, maintainability, and product quality. Accurate and actionable OEE data collection, validation, analysis, and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) reporting. Identification and closure of reliability gaps using best-in-class reliability principles and tools. Delivery of impactful productivity projects based on OEE system insights. Integration of advanced OEE and performance tracking technologies to enhance manufacturing competitiveness. Promotion of an entitlement performance mindset focused on achieving world-class standards. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership Lead implementation of OEE methodologies and reliability best practices across manufacturing sites. Develop and execute a multi-year reliability improvement plan driven by OEE insights. Apply OEE metrics to support investment decisions and capital project prioritization. Operational Support Partner with site operations teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement action plans to increase asset availability. Develop and communicate metrics to proactively identify and resolve reliability issues. Support root cause analysis for major equipment failures and ensure follow-up actions are implemented. Technical Expertise & Continuous Improvement Serve as a subject matter expert to engineers and site leadership on OEE strategy and execution. Evaluate and recommend solutions based on cost-benefit analysis and technical soundness. Ensure compliance with Environmental, Safety, Security, and Health (ESSH) policies and procedures. Team Reports to: Corporate Reliability Director Expanded Team Members: Works collaboratively with Site Directors, Operations Managers, Manufacturing and Reliability Engineers, and other technical and corporate stakeholders. Strong cross-functional influence is essential to drive improvements and ensure alignment across functions. Required Experience Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience. 10+ years of experience in the chemical, petrochemical, refining, or manufacturing industry. Minimum 5 years leading enterprise-level programs focused on reliability and risk management. Experience leading or contributing to corporate improvement initiatives involving OEE systems. Direct involvement in structured problem-solving and root cause analysis. Working knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices for chemical and polymer processing environments. Required Skills Expert knowledge of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) systems and performance improvement frameworks. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly present technical and business concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for data analysis and reporting. Familiarity with RAGAGEP (Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices). Technical understanding of fixed equipment, including tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, and piping. Knowledge of chemical and polymer processing, as well as supporting logistics, utilities, and production planning systems. Ability to economically evaluate and justify improvement opportunities. Skilled in translating technical reliability issues into business impact. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to align stakeholders and drive action without direct authority. Disciplined in applying standards and procedures to execute sustainable improvements. Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to equipment and process reliability.
