Research Support Manager
The Research Support Manager will contribute to the research mission of IIHR
Hydroscience and Engineering by providing pre-award grant support through collaboration in development and submission of competitive grant and contract proposals to a broad range of sponsors. The College of Engineering and Department of IIHR
Hydroscience and Engineering will be hiring one candidate at either the Pre-Award Research Support Manager level or Pre-Award Research Support Specialist level. Specific Job Duties and Tasks: Responsible for pre-award management with a high degree of complexity, from both federal and non-federal funding sources. Assist faculty, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and staff with navigating the university's research infrastructure. Assist Principal Investigators with preparation of research proposals for external funding. Collaborate with post-award support staff and Principal Investigators. Collaborate with post-award support staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of grant financial projections. Assist faculty with development of compliance information as required for contracts and grant proposals. Consult with faculty to discuss, evaluate, and plan for current and future needs and research funding opportunities. Establish new user accounts and train faculty and research staff on electronic grant submission systems. Serve as a contact for the Division of Sponsored Programs regarding grant submissions. Communicate with University of Iowa units to assure compliance and status tracking. May provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching, and counseling. Education Requirement: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications: Minimum of three years of experience with research grant proposal development. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated accuracy and high attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to provide high quality customer service. Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Office computer programs, particularly Excel. Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment. Desired Qualifications: Working experience with federal, state, UI, and private grants/contracts. Experience working with the University of Iowa systems and electronic submission systems. Working knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations.
