Estimating Manager
Our client, a specialized engineering firm focusing on steam and power generation, is seeking an Estimating Manager to lead project estimates for EPC projects, including steam and power generation, heavy industrial projects, and related systems. This role requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in project estimation for large-scale projects ($50+ million). The position involves building and leading a team, with hybrid work possible after an initial full-time in-office period. Key Responsibilities Generate detailed project estimates, capturing all costs, including commodities, labor hours, and equipment rental. Perform project estimation for 4-6 core projects annually, totaling $300+ million, and multiple smaller projects. Collaborate with engineering, project management, and project control teams during the estimating process. Develop material take-offs for concrete, structural steel, piping, and electrical systems. Create RFP specifications and bid packages for suppliers and subcontractors. Evaluate specifications and proposals to ensure cost-effective, reliable solutions that meet client requirements. Participate in estimate reviews with management and clients. Visit jobsites to verify project specifics for accurate estimates. Track and evaluate data from current and past projects for future use. Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent estimating experience. Experience:
10+ years in EPC project estimating for steam, power, or heavy industrial projects. Proven experience estimating projects in the $50+ million range. Strong knowledge of steam and power generation systems, including Rankine and combined cycles, cogeneration, and systems utilizing fossil fuels, biomass, RNG, hydrogen, or plant waste. Experience with estimating costs for pumps, fans, boilers, material handling systems, steam turbines, and pollution control equipment. Strong understanding of construction processes, estimating principles, and project workflows. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Willingness to learn InEight Construction Estimating Software (training provided). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of steam and power generation systems is a significant plus. Leadership skills to build and manage a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
