PT - Student Engagement Assistant

Salary: $15.00 per hour Summary of Function: The Student Engagement Assistant position plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students by supporting both daily MAC operations and student involvement efforts district-wide. This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Coordinator of Student Engagement and Events with implementing district-wide engagement opportunities for all Arizona Western College students. Typical Duties: Serves Students. The Student Engagement Assistant primarily serves students by providing exceptional customer service for the Department of Student Engagement and Events. Front Desk & MAC Operations Support: Supports the implementation and management of check-in and check-out procedures for departmental equipment and activities. Performs various clerical activities, including but not limited to submitting work orders, marketing requests, and room reservations; answering phones; tracking student activity request forms and club charter forms; opening and closing spaces; conducting regular safety walkthroughs; and maintaining accurate equipment and activity databases. Completing the assessment related to the department inventory. Ensures the proper and respectful use of shared spaces, fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Event Support Across Campus: Assist with the setup and takedown of student engagement events. Duties include but are not limited to setting up furniture, managing AV equipment, assisting with deliveries, greeting attendees, helping during events, and supporting event space scheduling, assessments, and check-outs. Marketing & Engagement Support: Collaborate with the Coordinator of Student Engagement and Events to share information about upcoming student events and activities. Help create and distribute flyers, update bulletin boards or digital screens, and support basic marketing tasks. Assist with gathering participation data and generating simple usage or engagement reports. Maintains and updates social media efforts and websites. Safety & Security in the MAC (exclusive to the MAC): Help maintain the safety and proper use of the Matador Activity Center. Remain alert to incidents such as vandalism, theft, or emergencies, and report to staff or Campus Police. Help implement emergency procedures and ensure compliance with building policies to protect spaces, students, and equipment. Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalency 2-3 Years of Excellent Customer Service Experience Note: Language proficiency details, such as English and Spanish, should be noted in application materials when relevant Classification: Non-Exempt Position Type & Work Schedule: Part-time Up to 19 hours per week Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures. Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications, especially those specific to the department operations. Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one's own time. Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development. Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail. Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Ability to provide assistance in a professional and supportive manner. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a professional manner. Ability to be flexible and supportive, positively and proactively assimilate change in a rapid growth environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected information and follow FERPA guidelines. Ability to supervise and schedule the work of others. Ability to adapt to a dynamic workload and demands. Ability to operate inventory tracking list. Ability to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and civility in all job-related actions. Work Environment: Working environment may include various locations across the service district, with varying lighting and noise levels, indoor and/or outdoor locations as needed to support program, department, or institutional needs.
