Trauma Nurse Specialist
As a Trauma Nurse Specialist in our Level I Trauma Center - Emergency Department, you will play a critical role in delivering specialized care to trauma patients. You will work in a Level I trauma center, providing expert clinical care, education, and leadership within our dynamic trauma care team. Key responsibilities include: Assess, triage, and provide advanced nursing care to trauma patients in the Emergency Department. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary trauma team, including physicians, surgeons, and respiratory therapists, to ensure seamless patient care. Act as a leader during trauma activations, facilitating communication and coordinating interventions. Develop and deliver trauma education programs for ED staff, including trauma simulations and drills. Participate in trauma research initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes. Advocate for the needs of trauma patients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance. Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia, or DC endorsement eligible. Minimum of 5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Certification in TNCC or ATCN is required. Obtain TNCC or ATCN instructor status within 6 months of hire. BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. Commitment to ethical and legal standards in trauma care.
