This role focuses on developing programs and strategies to secure a competitive edge in the marketplace. The Meat Category Manager collaborates with our internal and external partners to drive results and ensure alignment with Souto Foods objectives. Responsibilities
Serve as the company's meat category expert, staying informed on market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities. Develop and implement strategies to ensure Souto Foods meat category wins in the marketplace. Adapt programs and promotions to cater to Hispanic market preferences and demands. Collaborate with MDI buyers to source high-quality meats at competitive prices, considering supplier relationships that align with industry standards. Create an optimal product mix tailored to customer needs, including culturally relevant products. Develop and execute pricing and profit margin strategies to achieve financial targets. Lead and support the meat sales team, ensuring alignment with sales goals and company standards. Participate in the selection and hiring process of the meat sales team, ensuring they understand the Hispanic market dynamics. Train the sales force in product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer engagement specific to the meat category. Develop and implement promotional plans to drive sales, satisfy vendor requirements and achieve the desired total net profits. Oversee inventory control to maintain stock levels, minimize waste, and ensure product freshness. Implement processes for efficient inventory management and control, with a focus on reducing spoilage and meeting customer demand. Collaborate with Warehouse Operations to optimize logistics, storage, and delivery of meat products. Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance efficiency and customer experience. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience in category management, sales or meat industry operations. Strong understanding of meat products, market trends and customer preferences. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive vendor agreements. Proficiency in inventory management systems and pricing strategies. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (verbal and written). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel applications. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
