Lab Assistant/Senior Lab Assistant Outreach

Senior Lab Assistant - Outreach performs phlebotomy and manages laboratory orders in the outreach setting. Must have the ability to work independently with the patient care team on detail-oriented tasks, organize workload, evaluate situations and make decisions, and maintain confidentiality. Successful completion of SBL Preceptor Class required. Takes an active role in training and instructing students in the skill of phlebotomy and the processes at client locations served. Current ASCP Certification required. Department: Laboratory- Effingham Hours: Part-time, 20 hours/week Required: High School Diploma; BLS within 90 days of hire Pay: Based on experience, starting at $16.94 NOTE: Will consider Lab Assistants at entry level or senior level. Responsibilities

Achieve professional development through continuing education and knowledge of regulatory requirements Audits charts at client sites to ensure that all provider ordered tests are completed at the scheduled times Collects throat, nasal, and nasopharyngeal swabs using appropriate procedures and supplies Collects urine and/or alcohol for non-chain-of-custody drug screen testing Consistently demonstrates initiative and empowerment to meet client needs Demonstrates advanced skills set within practice areas such as assisting manager or supervisor with call-ins, scheduling, and coverage Demonstrates customer service principles to patients, clients and co-workers Demonstrates professional behaviors, accepting feedback and improving performance Demonstrates proficiency to function, trouble-shoot, and problem-solve issues independently with minimal supervision Labels tubes/containers; may package specimens for courier pick-up Maintains good client relations with patients and staff at long term care facilities or provider office Maintains records of the patients and clients served Maintains work areas in a neat and orderly fashion May function as preceptor, providing expertise to assist managers or instructors with training, education, and competency checks Obtains diagnosis information from the provider for each test ordered, and documents on lab order Participates in continuing education programs Performs and documents point of care test quality control Performs maintenance and daily cleaning on centrifuges Performs phlebotomy techniques

via venipuncture and capillary puncture Reads and documents daily temperature logs Registers patients and orders tests in the Laboratory Information System(s) Schedules tests to be drawn and completed Requirements

High School (Required)ASCP - Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology, BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire Compensation

Estimated Compensation Range $16.94 - $26.26 Pay based on experience
