The US Life Insurance Ratings team is seeking a highly motivated Associate Director with excellent organizational, communication, and credit analysis skills to manage a portfolio of credits. You will be managing the entire life cycle of a credit rating, as well as a variety of key relationships both internally and externally. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a role using both your quantitative and qualitative skills, while getting exposure to our Global Insurance Criteria and Framework. As an Associate Director, you will be working as part of a sector team in the North American Financial Services Ratings (US Life Insurance) group in S&P Global Ratings. With the guidance of senior analysts and support from junior analysts, a qualified Associate Director typically covers 10-12 insurance credits and is responsible for ongoing surveillance of a portfolio of rated insurance issuers and performs advanced fundamental credit analysis, forecasting, and industry analysis. A high performing Associate Director is also responsible for assisting in the ongoing development of the team's junior analysts. A high performing Associate Director is likely to be considered for providing advanced analysis on more complex industry topics, risk management systems, ESG assessments and complex quantitative modeling, and transactions, as well as providing input to written analysis used for sector commentaries, market evaluations, investor outreach and ratings methodologies. Responsibilities: Lead in all aspects of the Credit Ratings process, from quantitative analytics, engaging with the issuer, presenting in committees, to publishing an issuer's Rating. Assisting in the ongoing development of the team's junior analysts. Conduct detailed and high-level advanced analysis on complex industry topics, such as risk management systems, ESG assessments and complex quantitative modeling leading to credit insights, market evaluations and industry commentaries. Remain organized to successfully manage competing priorities and deadlines, while effectively handling multiple tasks amongst clients, investors, analysts, colleagues, and editors. Compensation/Benefits Information: S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,500 to $175,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. What We're Looking For: A Bachelor's is required, preferably in finance, risk, economics, accounting or business. An advanced degree or CFA is strongly preferred. An S&P Global employee typically has 6+ years of experience of applicable experience in related fields such as Credit, Insurance, Investment Banking, Risk Management, or Underwriting. Strong analytical skills with a good understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts are required. Must have a solid understanding of fixed income/debt capital markets. Insurance industry experience is preferred. Strong relationship management and communication skills are required. Must have the ability to quickly absorb, analyze, and act upon information, while demonstrating strong proficiency with data sets, and the ability to be detail oriented and maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines. Strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint and database application skills are required, and coding experience is a plus. Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure while multitasking and handling multiple assignments.
