The Brigham conducts the second largest hospital-based research program in the world, with an annual research budget of more than $630 million. As a major Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate, the Brigham is a cherished training ground for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, with 1,500 graduate medical education trainees in over 140 of the most sought-after training programs in the world. This role will require extensive collaboration with inpatient nursing and physician leadership as well as with other hospital departmental, MGB operational and Dana Farber Cancer Institute leaders. The VP reports to the Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations for the Brigham Sites (SVP). Due to the senior level of this position, the VP also regularly communicates with, prepares materials for, receives direction from, and provides counsel to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Medical Officer, the Chief Nursing Officer, the Department Chairs, and other senior leaders of other departments and the hospital. The scope of this senior management role spans the Brigham Sites. At the two Brigham Sites, there are ~49,000 and ~9,000 inpatient discharges annually. The Vice President of Inpatient Services and APSI (VP) is accountable for the overall administrative and strategic leadership, operating results, and cost center financial performance of the clinical operations, including: BWH / BWFH Inpatient Beds (1,000+) Respiratory Therapy Central Transport Complex Care Management / Social Work Analytics, Planning, Strategy, and Improvement (APSI) In leading this portfolio, the VP will oversee: A senior administrative leadership team, including an Executive Director of Inpatient and Clinical Services, a Senior Nursing Director for Complex Care Management, Director of Social Work, a Senior Director for Strategy Implementation, and a Senior Director for Process Improvement Senior Medical Director of Clinical Operations for purposes of operations and administration within the units. Demonstrated track record of successfully leading teams. MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent advanced degree required. Attends meetings in and out of the hospital. Is available for early and late meetings and flexible to meet frequent deadlines. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
