The Aparecio Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was designed as an economic development strategy to lift women out of poverty and as a community development approach to build the leadership capacity of low-income women. The Aparecio Foundation provides academic support and scholarship programs for high-potential, low-income women in public high schools through an eight-year multiple-mentor program. This is an unpaid Volunteer / Intern position. Job Description

The position of Public Relations Consultant will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of the organization's overall Public Relations program(s). The Public Relations Consultant is to focus on the enhancement of organizational reputation to external audiences. The position will include overseeing preparation of news releases, feature articles, letters, taking point, and employee communications materials. In addition, the Public Relations consultant is expected to monitor the demand for products and services offered by the organization and its competitors as well as potential customers and the overall organizational need. Description of Duties / Responsibilities: Research and development of blogs to be posted on the foundation's social media websites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and additional active websites). Coordinate the redesign and update of social media websites as needed. Supervise marketing activities to promote available services. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, government officials, and media representatives etc. in order to provide networking and business opportunities. Supervise management of communications budget. Consult with PR/Marketing Director and personnel to gain advice regarding the types of services expected within market. Oversee preparation of all information for media kits including press releases. Draft speeches for company executives and arrange other forms of contact, such as interviews. Monitor activities of external agencies, establishments, and departments etc. that develop and implement communication strategies and information programs. Manage development and maintenance of company's internet/intranet web pages. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (Journalism, English, or PR Writing) required Masters students/Doctoral students preferred Professional experience in field of Marketing (PR)/ Social Media Knowledge and experience using social media websites Excellent written and oral communication skills Background and knowledge of advertising Computer skills of graphic design, Adobe illustrator, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint Additional Information
