Tactical Weapon System Chief Engineer

BAE Systems is seeking a Tactical Weapon System Chief Engineer to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. We expect the successful candidate to possess and demonstrate the following traits: Strong technical expertise

of the SLCM-N missile system, including its design, development, and testing Familiarity with Navy and DoD program management processes

and ability to ensure accuracy and quality in all aspects of the job Ability to adapt to changing priorities

and deadlines, with a strong focus on meeting program requirements and delivering high-quality results Strong security clearance

and eligibility for Top-Secret clearance This position is responsible for: Providing technical direction

and oversight for BAE Systems' early and late lifecycle systems engineering and integration support to the SSP program office Leading the development

and implementation of system engineering and integration processes and procedures to ensure the SLCM-N missile system meets performance, safety, and reliability requirements Ensuring that BAE Systems' engineering

and integration processes are applied consistently across all SLCM-N activities Collaborating with cross-functional teams , including program management, engineering, test, and logistics, to ensure effective communication and coordination of technical activities Providing technical support

to the SSP Program Office, including participation in program reviews, risk assessments, and other activities as required Ensuring compliance

with Navy and DoD regulations, standards, and certification requirements, including those related to safety, security, and export control Identifying opportunities for process improvements

and implementing changes to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of BAE Systems' systems engineering and integration services. About BAE Systems and the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP): Our organization has supported the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) continually since the program's inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and as the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation's nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of Columbia, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The Navy projects this system to be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Minimum education and years of related/relevant work experience required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline. Additional skills/experience required: 10 - 12 years of experience

in a technical leadership role, with a strong background in system engineering, integration, and testing Demonstrated ability

to successfully lead multi-disciplinary teams in complex systems engineering In-depth knowledge

of the SLCM-N missile system, including its design, development, and testing. Skills in analysis, critical thinking, and technical problem solving Proven ability to lead

and motivate cross-functional teams and communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills Familiarity with Navy and DoD program management processes

and procedures Strong communication skills , including the ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Master's degree or higher

in Engineering or a STEM related field. Previous experience

in the defense industry, particularly in the development and sustainment of tactical weapon systems. Experience with model-based systems engineering

and associated tools. Desired experience in digital engineering and models-based systems engineering principles and tools Possession of certifications

related to system engineering, integration, and testing, such as the Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or the Certified Integration Specialist (CIS). Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
