EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Manufacturing Operations Engineering in our Hughes Network Systems division. This role will oversee the engineering operations (Materials, Test, Manufacturing Engineering) within the organization, ensuring the efficient and effective execution of projects and processes. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of engineering principles and practices. This position will be located in our Manufacturing facility in Germantown, MD. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the Operations Engineering teams, including Materials Engineering, Test Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering. Lead the execution and continuous improvement of engineering processes to support scalable production and optimized product quality. Develop and implement long-term strategies that improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, enhance product performance, and ensure manufacturability. Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, and Product Management to drive seamless product lifecycle transitions from design through production. Drive productivity initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices. Oversee capital equipment planning, implementation of new production technologies, and process automation initiatives. Ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards (e.g., ISO, IPC, RoHS) and internal corporate policies. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions when needed. Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering operations team through strong leadership, coaching, and performance management. Develop and manage departmental budgets, resources, and timelines to align with organizational priorities. Skills, Experience and Requirements: Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering 15 years of experience in engineering or operations roles, with at least 10 years in leadership/management positions 10 years of experience in engineering function within high-tech or electronics manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Engineering Strong communication skills Experience in the manufacturing of electronics assemblies Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities Experience in managing Materials, Test, and Manufacturing Engineering Teams Salary Ranges: Compensation: $185,000.00/Year - $225,000.00/Year We offer versatile health perks, including flexible spending accounts, HSA, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, career opportunities, and a flexible time away plan; all benefits can be viewed here: DISH Benefits.
