Graduate Assistant for Student Affairs
The Graduate Assistant for Student Affairs is a position in the Division of Student Affairs working directly with the Director of Mail Center. Duties and Tasks
Report directly to the Director of the Stephen Herrmann Mail Center. Provide primary support to the Mail Center's front-end and back-end operations, including sorting, processing, logging (via WTS/Quadient), locker loading (Parcel Pending), USPS trailer pickups, and departmental deliveries. Strategize and execute marketing initiatives that increase awareness of Mail Center services. Create and distribute promotional materials across platforms such as print, email, social media, and video. Content should highlight parcel tracking, package lockers, bulk mail, shipping options, and seasonal deadlines. Recommend, coordinate, and participate in events that engage the student population and promote Mail Center visibility. These may include outreach tables, themed pick-up campaigns, educational sessions on shipping logistics, and collaborations with campus life programs. Support the communication strategy of the Mail Center by maintaining and contributing to its social media presence. Assist in scheduling posts, developing creative media, and ensuring content is aligned with student needs and university standards. Engage with faculty and departments, as directed, to inform them of available Mail Center services and facilitate bulk mailing, research material shipping, and administrative logistics. Assist the broader Division of Student Affairs, including support for Accessibility Services and Career Services. Duties in these areas may include administrative tasks, alternative formatting of textbooks, student engagement programming, social media material, content creation, event assistance, and involvement in student-facing activities such as resume reviews, tabling, and presentation supportas directed by the Director of the Mail Center. Contribute to accurate data reporting and internal documentation related to mailing volume, locker usage, and bulk mailing transactions to support institutional planning and billing. Provide exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and electronically, addressing student, staff, and parent inquiries with accuracy and professionalism. Participate in university events and functions as a representative of the Mail Center and the Division of Student Affairs. Collaborate across Student Affairs units as needed, particularly during peak periods or special projects, with assignments delegated by the Director of the Mail Center. Assist students in identifying and connecting with relevant campus resources and support services. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Mail Center to support operational efficiency and the strategic goals of the Mail Center and the Student Affairs division.
