Contracts Administration & Compliance Manager
Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV) supports the commercialization of university technology through technology licensing, the development of sponsored research agreements, and venture creation. We serve as business advisors to investigators at all ten schools of the university whose research has commercial potential. Our resources include intellectual property (IP) protection, technology analysis, marketing and licensing support, translational and venture funding support, physical space through our FastForward innovation hubs, and professional services such as mentorship, pro bono legal and accounting services, and educational programming.
We are seeking a
Contracts Administration & Compliance Manager.
Reporting to the Director Licensing, the Contracts Administration & Compliance Manager will support compliance and intellectual property-related operational activities. This mid-level professional collaborates across teams to manage agreement deliverables, intellectual property portfolio tasks, compliance obligations, and related processes. The role ensures streamlined operations and adherence to institutional policies, legal frameworks, and governmental regulations.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Compliance Support
Collaborate with the Director of Agreement Management to monitor licensee compliance with agreement obligations, track deliverables (e.g., royalty reports, patent reimbursements, progress updates. Interact with licensees to address and correct non-compliance issues. Maintain and review agreement records in relevant databases, such as Inteum or Salesforce, ensuring accuracy of contract obligations, licensee rights, patent appendices, and fulfillment of contractual applications. Perform initial reviews of insurance coverage documents and assist in preparing analyses for further assessment or action by the Director of Agreement Management. Assist in organizing and maintaining translational funding documents for technology cases (e.g., TEDCO, Coulter, MBC) to ensure availability for internal and external reporting. Facilitate communication among external agencies, funding sponsors, and internal stakeholders on compliance-related matters. Collaborate with internal departments, such as finance, licensing, intellectual property, and legal teams, to ensure compliance obligations are fulfilled and accurately monitored.
Intellectual Property Administration
Contribute to government compliance reporting (e.g., via iEdison) and database management tasks, ensuring data integrity and accuracy, particularly as it relates to licensee product development. Systems and Process Improvement. Use and improve internal business processes related to compliance and IP portfolio operations, including leveraging technology-based tools. Explore opportunities to use AI tools to improve efficiency. Assist with database migration tasks during transitions, ensuring smooth operations and accurate data transfer. Identify opportunities to enhance internal workflows and recommend changes that improve efficiency and compliance reporting.
Additional Administrative Duties
Prepare custom reports related to annual compliance metrics, agreements, patents, and intellectual property goals as needed. Provide support for other administrative or compliance-related tasks, as directed. Respond to audit and due diligence requests by gathering supporting documents in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency in interpreting legal agreements, compliance obligations, and intellectual property portfolios. Strong organizational and time management abilities with exceptional attention to detail. Self-motivated and adaptable with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite tools, particularly Excel. Familiarity with database systems, such as Inteum or Salesforce, is preferred. Basic knowledge of intellectual property law or technology transfer processes is desired.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced Degree in Science, Business, or law. Registered Patent Agent. Four (4) years of related intellectual property experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident required due to Federal Export Controls. Advanced degree or certification in intellectual property, contract law, compliance, or technology transfer. Experience with intellectual property portfolio management, agreement tracking, or compliance tasks. Familiarity with government compliance reporting (e.g., iEdison) and funding programs (e.g., TEDCO, Coulter, MBC).

Education and Experience Equivalency
