Looking for a Digital Communications Engineer to support our Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department. As a member of the SEIT department, you’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside other engineers with a wide array of technical skills to make our technologies a reality. Our Advanced Digital Engineering group creates the next generation of communications and signal processing systems, taking ideas from concept to working systems aboard the world’s most advanced platforms. We bring design to life in our San Diego labs and have on-site advanced manufacturing just minutes from the beach in Southern California. As a Digital Communications Engineer, you will have an opportunity to be part of an organization that is collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented, with a focus on empowerment, shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and automation. This position will serve on-site at our Emerging Capabilities Development group in San Diego, CA. Responsibilities:
Research, design, and develop digital designs associated with multi-function software-defined radios and automated test equipment. Work with evaluation boards to test proposed designs. Support the implementation of digital FPGA hardware architecture and algorithms. Collaborate with Systems Engineering to ensure firmware design meets system-level requirements. Review designs and perform analysis. Drive complex technical problems to closure. Lead product delivery efforts. May lead a team of technical engineers. Basic Qualifications:
12+ years with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering discipline with a specialty in Digital Communications; 10+ years with a Master's; 8+ years with a PhD. Experience in the design and development of digital communications systems, including modulation, signal & receiver design, noise processes, detection, equalization, coding, synchronization, and multi-access communications. Experience in link budget development, modeling, and testing. Matlab and Simulink modeling of digital communication systems and algorithms. Hands-on experience in Digital Communications within the last 3 years. Experience leading teams through product implementation or demonstration. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance. Preferred Qualifications:
Optimization of Matlab or Simulink code generated HDL and porting to FPGAs or ASICs. Open air and/or flight testing of advanced communication systems. Active/Current DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI. Experience with Military Waveforms. Waveform Algorithm Design and Decomposition. Waveform ASIC Development.
