Job Description
The Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs (ADCA) provides leadership, strategic direction, oversight, and management for the college in areas related to the clinical pre-doctoral, clinical residency and faculty practice programs.
Responsibilities
Prepare outcomes data in support of institutional effectiveness related to the clinical program and quality assurance standards. Stay current with federal and state healthcare and safety regulations related to the college's clinical facility and clinical operations, ensure compliance with accreditation standards, and ensure that the college has policies in place reflecting these. Assess the quality of care delivered in all UT Health Science Center dental patient clinics (predoctoral, graduate, college-owned community-based clinics and Faculty Practice); produce and collect quality assurance data and report regularly to the Dean of the College or his designee. Collaborates with the Office of Finance and Administration on matters related to dental and medical billing and compliance with state and federal regulations that apply. Provide high-level oversight to program improvement and infection control activities, monitoring and improving the function of clinic support units, including central sterilization and the preclinical simulation laboratory, ensuring in-service training and compliance with university and state regulations for students, residents, faculty and staff. Ensure clinical credentialing for faculty and continually assess and provide oversight for Axium (electronic health record). Collaborate in conjunction with the patient advocate to ensure high-quality care and patient satisfaction; formalize monitoring, reporting and follow-up related to patient complaints and incident reports. Oversee the activities of the Director of Clinical Operations.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
DDS, DMD, PhD, or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years leadership experience in dental education at the institutional level working in development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of a clinical education program leading to a dental degree; or a minimum of seven (7) years leadership experience in a large dental/medical clinical operations or large dental practice. Demonstrated experience in directing large dental clinical operations, dental school clinical affairs or service as a clinical department chair. Comprehensive clinical skills. Broad knowledge of issues in dental education.
LICENSES:
Active or eligible for a dental license in Tennessee.
