Pipefitter II
Epsilon Systems is seeking a full time Pipefitter II in Portsmouth, VA. The position involves reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches to repair, modify, install and dismantle various pipes and fittings associated with shipboard hydraulic, pneumatic and water systems. Fabrication, assembly and testing of piping systems and components are also required. Requires little to no supervision. Responsibilities include: Reporting to the Production Manager. Once assigned to a project, reports directly to the project Foreman in the performance of his/her responsibilities. Strictly adhering to corporate, federal, state and local safety regulations prior to setting up or operating any machinery. Ensuring that all Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn and that all damaged PPE is discarded. Maintaining good housekeeping practices; turning off machines when not in use, disposing of waste properly, sweeping the area, etc. Ensuring that all tools listed on the "Required Tools List" are available for use within two weeks of your employment. Returning tools/equipment checked out from the Tool Room to proper location and reporting lost, stolen, missing or damaged items to the Facilities Foreman in accordance with the Process Instruction. Ensuring that all requirements of the Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group Quality Assurance Manual are followed when invoked. Following detailed repair procedures and instructions required to complete the production operations. Notifying Foreman of any unsatisfactory condition(s) identified during the production operation. Coordinating the efforts of other trades during an installation, modification or repair operation. Performing component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose the problem and provide the most cost-effective recommendation for completing repairs. Performing and/or verifying mechanical alignments. Ensuring control and assuming responsibility for Level-1 material controls in accordance with Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group Instructions. Performing installation, repair, overhaul or modification in place or in shop to piping systems and components. Performing component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems. Assisting with the performance of on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation. Preparing and installing equipment or system alterations. Performing intermediate set up, alignment, and operation of various portable tools and hand tools used in the trade. Layouts material prior to performing pipe bending operations and machine parts to achieve proper joint design as per Technical Work Documents. Fabricating and installing intermediate/complex fixtures, jigs, supports and targets to ensure proper alignment during the welding process. Producing quality piping assemblies, in difficult or adverse conditions and is proficient in brazing. Performing flushing/cleaning of piping systems and components in accordance with TWD. Performing pressure testing of completed/assembled piping systems in accordance with TWD. Requirements: High School/GED with Apprenticeship Diploma and additional vocational courses or technical school graduate, and/or military and/or civilian experience with marine piping systems in a repair department or shipyard. 5 years' experience. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain government base access and private shipyard access. Must be able to understand and perform intermediate set up, alignment, and operation of various portable tools and hand tools used in the trade. Must have intermediate knowledge and understanding of shipboard piping systems (repair/installation practices, procedures, pipe bending, alignments and troubleshooting) and blue print reading. Communicates effectively, work independently or in a group. Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide and multiply. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Must be qualified in multiple brazing processes. Able to work outside of trade. Able to travel. Preferences: Current security clearance level SECRET or ability to obtain and maintain SECRET clearance. ADA Notations: Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional and loud noises Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships). Able to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight. Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects. Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
