Packages Bottles Manually
Bottles are manually packaged at a standard rate on assigned line(s). Basic quality control checks are performed including measuring, weighing, strength testing, package counts, and evaluating product appearance. Tasks may include taping, unitizing cartons, folding boxes, applying labels, and stacking boxes on pallets. General housekeeping is also required. Assistance in scrap removal and grinding is necessary. Packing of either blank or decorated bottles is required. Performs finishing operations as directed and assigned on a variety of products. Such operations include packaging, assembly, rework, inspection, weighing, and recording finished production. Work is performed under direct supervision. Packs cartons with empty plastic bottles at a standard rate. Twists, bends, and lifts every carton. This requires wrist and arm movements. Uses simple measuring instruments such as a ruler, scale, or gages to check work. General arithmetic knowledge is necessary to understand how to use these tools. Monitors product for quality defects and promptly informs the operator and/or the coordinator. Loads conveyors and flamers. Practices housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around the machine including mopping if necessary. Removes scrap from around the line. Grinds and pulls plastic as needed. Makes and unitizes cartons as assigned. Initials and dates box labels. Makes out unit tickets. Does any other work as assigned by the Supervisor. Ability to work with 18-30 lbs. per carton. Possibly packs 100 to 250 cartons in an 8-hour shift. May have to lift carton off the horse onto the floor. Twists, bends, and lifts every carton. Promotes a safe working environment. Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers. Education
