QC Level 1 Asphalt Lab Technician
HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energetic Lab Technician for our asphalt plants. HRI has asphalt labs located in the Johnstown, Reynoldsville, Bellefonte, Williamsport, Milton, and Bloomsburg areas. We are a leader in asphalt paving, bituminous products, and heavy civil construction. The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter that can also function well with co-workers and customers. Applicant must be able to work varying shifts and long hours dependent on market demands. Main Responsibilities: Provide all sampling and testing information required for HRI Inc. inspection staff, and owner's representative Conduct daily meetings with onsite staff to discuss daily testing needs Keep up to date with all current and developing technologies required to perform the job Responsible for safely operating, maintaining, and caring for assigned testing equipment Designing new PennDOT certified HMA mix designs Assist asphalt plant team members during production/maintenance Conduct follow-up to review results and any findings that may affect construction or payment Keep thorough records of all sampling, testing, and calculations performed on project for submission Skills: Previous experience and knowledge with mix designs, sampling, testing of asphalt, and/or related fields preferred Proficient in Excel, and Word Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Valid drivers' license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history Level 1 or 2 Asphalt Technician Certification preferred Physical Requirements: Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain Frequent exposure to loud noise Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, overtime as required Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements Proven track record working safely Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude Travel will be required Benefits: Choice of 3 Medical Plan Options Prescription Drug Coverage Dental and Vision Plans Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Options Access to Telemedicine and Healthcare Advocacy Services Employee Assistance Program Life and AD&D Insurance Disability Insurance 401(k) Savings Plan with Company Match Great starting rates Sign on Bonus will be awarded to all hired candidates after 90 days of employment Colas Inc. and its subsidiaries are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
