Island Health is looking for an experienced Nursing Supervisor for our Full-time 1.0 FTE Day Shift at our hospital in Anacortes, WA. Nursing Supervisor Job Responsibilities: Assists and supports the Director to manage the nursing units and provide excellent patient focused care Participates in the development of departmental goals and objectives, which are compatible with the vision, values and goals of Island Hospital and supportive of the annual organizational goals Improves employee engagement and retention by collaborating with Director, HR and Educator to implement improved onboarding, orientation, recognition, selection and performance management strategies. Supports and assists the Director in providing an excellent patient experience for all patients by implementing and enforcing initiatives, projects, programs and standards. Participates in the Shared Governance structure of nursing practice and decision-making. Assists and supports the Director to ensure that quality care is delivered to the patient. Assists and supports the Director by participating in unit specific and system-wide quality initiatives, committees and work as delegated (e.g. Safe Patient handling, Safety and Disaster Preparedness) Contributes to the financial well-being of the department and hospital by assisting the Director in developing and managing an annual budget, identifying cost saving or revenue producing opportunities and ensuring responsible management of supplies, staffing and other resources. Builds a healthy team and professional relationships. Manages daily operations of the departments under the direction of the Director and makes decisions as delegated and authorized by the Director. Assists and supports the Director in providing timely personnel and performance management and staff education. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Job Requirements: Minimum two (2) years of surgical nursing experience required. Previous management and/or supervisory experience to include experience as a charge nurse. BSN preferred or commitment to enroll in a BSN program within established expectation. CNOR certification preferred and encouraged. Must maintain RN license issued by the WA Department of Health.
