Supply Chain Applications Specialist

At Houston Methodist, the Supply Chain Applications Specialist position is responsible for tactical support for material management specific software packages and/or databases. This position's support includes serving as the primary point of contact for database functions such as data entry, data maintenance and maintenance with information technology (IT) and vendors. Systems the Supply Chain Applications Specialist position supports include the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, inventory management systems, contract and procurement system. People Essential Functions: Communicates in an active, positive, effective manner with all team members, staff throughout the organization and vendors Contributes to teamwork by consistently offering assistance and responding in a positive, timely manner to requests for assistance Liaises with IT and business stakeholders to support and maintain Supply Chain systems as appropriate Service Essential Functions: Serves as the primary point of contact for database functions such as data entry, data maintenance (i.e. batch upgrades), coordinates software updates and maintenance with IT or software vendor Creates reports as requested or works with IT/software vendor(s) to create requested reports Supports upgrade implementations and upgrades including testing and audit processes. Makes changes and corrections as needed and communicates to stakeholders Quality/Safety Essential Functions: Identifies technical problems or program enhancements and coordinates with IT or software vendor Tests software upgrades and communicates upgrades to users Contributes to development of effective business decisions through clear, concise communication and reporting using data to support conclusions Provides input and recommendations, process improvements and customer service approaches Finance Essential Functions: Seeks out opportunities to increase efficiency and productivity for self and department Supports team goals and metrics through efficient, timely issue resolution of assignments Growth/Innovation Essential Functions: Anticipates client needs and communicates to department leadership for solution development Generates innovative solutions in partnership with customers, vendors and department Proactively manages own professional development. Education: Bachelor's degree business, information technology or related field. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an additional four years' experience in addition to the minimum experience required below Work Experience: One year of experience in software and database support preferably in a materials management database License/Certification
