Job Title
To assist in the decontamination and distribution of flexible endoscopy equipment for use in patient care. To provide support and assistance to the GI staff in all areas that specialize in endoscopy. Essential Job Functions: Clean, disinfect, endoscopic scopes and equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards Maintain endoscopic equipment, let someone know when something needs to be sent out for repair. Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning Maintain inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies Ensure appropriate and safe storage of endoscopic scopes and associated equipment Notify lead technician of any deficit in appropriate stock related to endoscopy equipment Conduct weekly maintenance of the endoscopy washer/disinfectors and maintenance of drying cabinets Maintain legible and accurate records of all endoscopes processed and used in order that an audit trail (tracking and tracing) for each endoscopic procedure is maintained. Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Assist physician in the endoscopic procedure. Prepare rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements. Attend in service training to validate or refresh basic professional skills. General Job Functions: Other job duties as required. Physical Job Requirements: Regular combination of sitting, standing, walking, lifting pushing and pulling. Requirement to exert moderate physical effort involving lifting and handling equipment and stock items. Need for excellent hand-eye coordination to ensure accuracy and speed working with contaminated equipment Lifting of heavy containers of chemicals Lifting and stretching when loading scopes into washer and cabinets. Environmental Risks: Loud noises Handling contaminated equipment and hazardous substances Exposure to highly unpleasant conditions, (e.g. blood, body fluids, tissue) Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required. 0-1 years experience required. Valid Driver's license required. Certified in Flexible Endoscope Reprocessing (CER) or obtained within 1 year of employment. Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing required. Strong Multi-tasking, organizing & priority setting skills required. Experience with Hand Tools and Material handling equipment, i.e. hand carts, dollies, etc. preferred. Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred. Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Windows based environment preferred.
