Inpatient Forensic Services Administrator - Psychologist

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services is hiring an Inpatient Forensic Services Administrator - Psychologist to lead key forensic initiatives across the state's Regional Psychiatric Hospitals (RPHs). Under the direction of the Forensic Services Chief, this position will manage and improve the delivery of forensic psychological services statewide, oversee training programs, guide policy development, and act as a central point of support for hospital-based forensic staff. More on what you'll do: Lead Forensic Programs at State Hospitals: Oversee forensic evaluation and treatment processes at Ohio's RPHs, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance across all sites. Develop the Next Generation of Psychologists: Design and implement the "Grow Our Own Psychology" initiative, building strong pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship programs within the regional hospitals. Provide Direct Support to Forensic Practitioners: Serve as a daily resource to RPH Legal Assurance Administrators (LAAs), Forensic Navigators, and RPH Psychology Directors offering clinical and technical guidance as needed. Shape Forensic Policy and Practice: Review, revise, and recommend policies and procedures that impact forensic psychological services, and collaborate with hospital psychology directors and leadership teams. Gather and Analyze Program Data: Collect forensic outcome data, conduct statistical analysis, and prepare reports to evaluate and improve services across the system. Represent Forensic Services Leadership: Act on behalf of the Forensic Services Chief in meetings and workgroups, including Psychology Directors' meetings, Hospital Services/Forensic Workgroups, and HSBTC. Lead Trainings and Conferences: Organize monthly and quarterly meetings and co-chair the Annual Forensic Conference to ensure statewide professional development and collaboration. Collaborate Across Systems: Coordinate with hospital and community-based teams to address both forensic and non-forensic needs, based on clinical assessments and program goals. Travel and Engage Across the State: Attend meetings, provide on-site support, and represent the Bureau of Forensic Services throughout Ohio. This is an hourly position and is exempt from the bargaining units, with a pay range of 15 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (Flexible Schedule). Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter. Position Qualifications: Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration or mental health technology (e.g., psychology, rehabilitation, social work); 12 mos. exp. in area to be assigned. OR The completion of graduate core program in public administration or business administration. OR 12 mos. exp. as Mental Health Administration 4, 65224, in Department of Mental Health. Note: prior training &/or experience must be directly related to area to be assigned. OR The equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. *Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria: A psychologist with a doctoral level education with at least 3 years of experience as a forensic examiner; knowledge and experience in the forensic mental health system at a state psychiatric hospital or within the community forensic system.
