Selectek is searching for a remote Fiber Engineer for a 6+ month contract to hire position. This person will perform the engineering for FTTH on 5 bases. Responsibilities include: Engineering using Fond, or KMZ desktop design Neighborhood only, no middle mile Includes equipment specifications, possible vendors and part numbers, cabinets, etc. Determine standard for segment, fiber counts, splitter locations, etc. Support the use of aerial for neighborhoods that may have this option Document (KMZ) final KMZ and standard information for submittal to A&E and construction vendors Inventory (fiber, hand holes, splicing points, and other key information will be on KMZ AutoCAD, ArcGIS, 3GIS, Vetro 25% travel Job order details: This is a Fiber Engineer - FFTH (Fiber to the home). This is an engineer that will be doing design work in FOND or KMZ. This person will research vendors for equipment and specs. They will work with Bas approvals for hand hole and other design. They will determine standards for segments, fiber counts and splitter locations. They will work with ISP requirements and provide final documents to A&E and construction vendors. Responsible for planning the logistics of and performing multiple and various types of telecommunications site design visits including fiber to the home, backhaul, middle mile, pole surveys etc. within a set budget and timeframe. Need to have the ability to sketch layouts and as-built designs in the field as well as in the office environment (CAD experience preferred). The ability to navigate between both field and office settings is a necessity. Essential functions (key responsibilities): Logistics

Efficiently plan routes, lodging, and additional accommodations to audit multiple sites and produce deliverables by or before deadlines while staying within budget. Collection

Collect and document information from the field as necessary to support engineering and/or the completion of drafting procedures for small cell nodes, FTTx projects, enterprise fiber deployments. Documentation

Document the best route and provide guidance to fiber design engineer for the path. Coordination

Work and communicate with appropriate personnel, including Project Managers and Clients, representing B+T in a professional manner. Quality Control

Review information and documentation prior to transmission to ensure thoroughness and accuracy. Transmission

Utilize proper tools and programs (Ike, Emlid) while in the field to transmit deliverables to the appropriate office/client in a timely manner. Safety

Monitor working conditions and report those that may impact the maintenance of a safe environment. Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned. Required qualifications: Technical knowledge

Capable of using various tools to collect dimensions and elevations, including basic photography equipment, i.e. IKE, Katapult. Construction knowledge

Understanding of construction methods and materials as well as proficiency in reading blueprints and plans Logistics

Ability to use programs such as, Google Earth, Bing or similar tools for planning efficient routes and accommodations. Communication skills

Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly express questions, explanations, and suggestions. Safety

Knowledge of basic safety requirements in remote and challenging locations to secure safe working conditions. Computer skills

Proficiency in the use of personal computers, including internet, email, PDF, and image software. Software proficiency

Proficient in the use of FTTx design programs, including Arc-GIS, 3GIS, Fond, Vetro, etc. High school diploma or equivalent. Emphasis on mathematics in education and experience. At least 2 years of experience auditing or performing related services on telecommunication sites. AutoCAD experience preferred. Sponsorship: No, must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder Pay rate: $50/hour Location of job: Remote Hours and shift: 8AM
