Business Information Management Specialist

The Business Information Management Specialist provides business technical leadership across a broad range of information management functions to support the various areas of data and analytics. Works independently as a senior lead and may manage and direct activities related to analysis, design and support of business data management solutions on various projects ranging up to larger projects. The US Treasury Data Management team is part of the overall Enterprise Treasury Data Management. Their vision is to make US Treasury a data centric organization by ensuring that data used and owned by Treasury is fully understood, accessible, controlled and fit for purpose. The team strategy is to lead and deliver excellence by executing across 6 pillars with teams focusing on data strategy, inventory management, data issue management, data change management, data quality metrics/profiling and dashboards, data change management as well as data solutions. Ultimately this team is focused on providing innovative solutions and advice, building sustainable practices and fostering collaboration and growth across the team and partners. The role requires substantial knowledge and expertise in a complex field, master level conceptual expertise and knowledge in own area of specialty, and fluency in multiple programming languages. The candidate should be able to work autonomously as a senior/lead on a diverse range of tasks, coach and educate others, and manage and direct activities related to analysis, design and support of business information management solutions. The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree or technical certificate, 7+ years of relevant experience from a business administration, statistical, mathematical, scientific or financial background, and advanced knowledge of various data sources, tools and technologies used in preparing summaries and reports. Analytical and problem solving skills are required to interpret data and draw conclusions. The candidate should also have knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends, skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques, and ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. The candidate should be skilled in mentoring/coaching others, using computer applications including MS Office, Alteryx, Tableau and SQL, and working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing and understanding business and data requirements to develop complete business solutions, including data models and business rules, data life-cycle management, governance, lineage, metadata and reporting elements. The candidate will apply automation and innovation on data platforms and on-going on any new development projects/initiatives aligned to business or organizational strategies. The candidate will design and implement complex business data information management frameworks to provide a solution that meets business requirements. The candidate will collaborate with technology and business partners to resolve issues and ensure requirements and established SLAs, work closely with various technology/project teams to understand business data and provide analysis and requirements to ensure the data design/development initiatives are in line with the planned design and standards, and work with other various partners/stakeholders to ensure project success. The candidate will develop business requirements by researching/analyzing and documenting business data requirements, provide expert guidance within projects and other various change initiatives to support data impact assessments and data risk mitigation, implement processes aligned to data information management standards and ensure data quality and requirements are developed, and develop and maintain knowledge of data available from upstream sources and data within various platforms. The candidate will identify critical data/critical data elements to support Business Segment data governance and/or data management frameworks/programs, perform data profiling using TD tooling and ad hoc system query languages to validate data analysis, and provide support throughout data lifecycle to resolve data issues and support user community by helping users interpret the data. The candidate will lead the investigation of root causes for data issues and ensure data issues are resolved, identify and/or define knowledge transfer and data expertise activities to support business teams using the information management solutions, and adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to data activities for business area. The candidate will ensure business operations follow applicable internal and external requirements, participate in cross-functional/enterprise/initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk/provide guidance for complex situations, conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/policies/practices, and keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts. The candidate will maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite, participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/points of interest, provide industry knowledge for own area of expertise and participate in knowledge transfer within the team, and business unit, and/or cross-functional groups or committees, keep current on emerging trends/developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques, participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team, keep others informed and up-to-date about the status/progress of projects and/or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities, contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices, lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners/stakeholders to develop productive working relationships, contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce, and act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally.
