The Manager for Campus Traditions and Outreach leads the planning and execution of several campus traditions including the Ring Ceremony, Holiday Tree Lighting, and other campus-wide signature events. The Manager advises the Tiger Traditions Board, a student-led programming team that brings school spirit and community to life. Reporting to the Associate Director for Campus Engagement and Traditions, this role also oversees Campus Life's outreach and engagement efforts, ensuring that programs are clearly communicated, widely visible, and authentically connected to student interests. The Manager works across teams to create meaningful, high-impact experiences that help students build memories, pride, and meaningful connections beyond the classroom. General Responsibilities for This Position Plan, coordinate, and execute major campus traditionsincluding Homecoming Events, Fall Fest, Mardi Gras Mambo, and other signature eventsensuring each program fosters community, school pride, and student engagement. Advise and develop the Tiger Traditions Board, mentoring student leaders in program design, event execution, and leadership development while growing the board's capacity and campus impact. Lead Campus Life's outreach and engagement strategy, coordinating communications efforts that promote visibility, accessibility, and student-driven storytelling across platforms. Collaborate with campus partners, vendors, and university stakeholders to ensure traditions and outreach initiatives are high quality, logistically sound, and aligned with divisional and institutional goals. Assess and refine engagement strategies and events through data collection, student feedback, and reflective practice to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with Campus Life's student success outcomes. Responsibilities Program Oversight (40%): Responsible for developing operational strategy and oversight for Campus Life traditions and outreach strategies, including social media strategy, website management, student newsletters, advertising, and graphic design. Works collaboratively with the Office of Communication and University Relations and adheres to the standards set therein. Manages complex projects, set timelines, and lead team discussions to ensure high-quality deliverables. Leadership & Management (20%): Responsible for direct supervision, training, and continued development of graduate assistants and student staff members. Recommends personnel actions to the department head and communicates personnel actions to direct reports. Demonstrates divisional attitudes and priorities in all aspects of work. Partner with academic and administrative departments to craft communication strategies that support enrollment, retention, and community engagement. Collaborate with other campus stakeholders to strengthen and elevate Campus Life's visibility and reach. Support and coach fellow staff members in developing their marketing and communication skills to enhance overall team effectiveness. Quality Control (20%): Ensures efforts for Campus Life exude a high degree of quality. Works with colleagues to improve quality and creativity within Campus Life events, initiatives, and outreach. Sets quality expectations for areas of oversight regarding timelines for initiatives and assessing efforts for continual improvement. Embraces and executes the marginal gains approach and seeks to improve the level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in department for continuous improvement every academic year. Ensure LSU's brand standards are upheld, maintaining design excellence and digital presence across all materials. Direct Student Support (15%): Translates department efforts, initiatives, and goals to students and student staff through student staff supervision, interactions at programs, services, events, and experiences facilitated by the department. Operates from a "yes" first mindset and is creative in how to approach student concerns. Other Duties as Assigned (5%): Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Life or leadership from the Student Affairs Central Office. This includes but is not limited to efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services Finals Testing, other special projects etc. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Bachelor's degree with 3 years related experience OR master's degree with one year of related experience. LSU values skills, experience, and expertise.
