RF Principal Engineer
Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control business is experiencing growth at our campus in Chelmsford, MA. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control's Microwave Center of Excellence is seeking to hire an RF Principal Engineer who will have the opportunity to join a team of highly competent RF engineering professionals involved in the design, development, and test of complex RF/Microwave subassemblies at our campus in Chelmsford, MA. In this highly visible role, the RF Principal Engineer will have the opportunity to architect and design Radio Frequency systems and circuitry used in high frequency and microwave applications, including receivers, transmitters, antennas, and frequency synthesizers. Responsible for hardware layout, component evaluation, prototype construction, and test. - Prepare test methods and specifications; analyze and test RF hardware to verify performance characteristics. Provide inputs to Product Development for formal documentation and support manufacturing during the deliverable assembly and test phases. - Develop RF System/Subsystem Architectures consisting of: transmitters, receivers, low noise amplifiers, high power amplifiers, RF conversion elements and transmission line equipment. - Perform RF system/subsystem/component trade studies and CAIV analysis. Supports Life Cycle Costs, reliability, availability, and maintainability analysis. - Be the technical lead on development programs and IRAD projects. Lead teams performing root cause analysis and failure review board activities in support of product issues. Lead design reviews, ensuring good RF design practices and processes are in place. - Mentor and coach less experienced engineers. Basic Qualifications: Minimum relevant experience: 15 years (PhD), 18 years (MS), 20 years (BS), 25 years (no degree). Degree Disciplines within Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM), preferably Electrical Engineering or Physics. RF circuit design experience greater than or equal to 18 GHz Hybrid (Chip & Wire) design experience PWB/PCB/PWA/CCA design experience Transceiver design experience RF simulation experience (ADS, AWR, SystemVue, or equivalent) Full-Wave simulation experience (CST, HFSS, or equivalent) Deep understanding of RF test equipment (Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generator, etc.) Ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance, therefore you must be a US Citizen. Desired Skills: Relevant experience 25+ years RF architecture experience RF circuit design experience greater than or equal to 40 GHz (Ka-Band) Experience with frequency planning, spurious analysis, RF cascade analysis, and stability analysis RF production support experience, RF statistical analysis/yield prediction Design experience in amplifiers, oscillators, frequency converters, filters, power supplies, and data converters Heavy mentoring experience Excellent oral and written communication skills Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
