FinOps Engineer

We are seeking a proactive and skilled FinOps Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in implementing, automating, and managing the technical aspects of our cloud financial operations, ensuring optimal resource utilization and cost efficiency for our projects and clients. What You'll Do:
Implement Cloud Cost Controls: Design, implement, and maintain technical solutions for cloud cost optimization, leveraging cloud-native tools. Automate Everything FinOps: Develop and deploy scripts, automation routines, and custom tools to automate cost governance, resource lifecycle management, and anomaly detection. Deep Dive into Cloud Usage: Analyze cloud usage data, resource configurations, and service logs to identify technical inefficiencies, underutilized resources, and opportunities for rightsizing and architectural optimization. Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Work closely with software development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to embed cost-aware practices into application design, deployment pipelines, and operational procedures. Build Reporting & Dashboards: Develop and enhance technical dashboards and data pipelines that provide actionable insights into cloud spend, utilization, and waste for technical and financial stakeholders. Troubleshoot & Optimize: Proactively identify and resolve technical issues related to cloud cost allocation, billing discrepancies, and optimizing tool performance. Champion FinOps Practices: Advocate for and help implement FinOps best practices across our technical teams, fostering a culture of shared cloud cost responsibility. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Active DHS Public Trust Clearance with ability and willingness to process for Top Secret clearance Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing or related technical discipline Minimum three years experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, site reliability engineering (SRE), or a similar role with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure Proven proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with a solid understanding of core compute, storage, networking, and serverless services Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation Demonstrable experience analyzing technical data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and drive solutions Familiarity with cloud billing mechanisms, cost management tools, and pricing models Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a detail-oriented approach to complex data Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues and cost-saving opportunities to both technical and non-technical audiences Desired Skills: FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or other relevant cloud certifications Experience utilizing cloud native tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing reports) and third-party platforms Develop and deploy scripts, automation routines, and custom tools (e.g., Python, Lambda functions, Azure Functions, CloudFormation, Terraform) Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, AWS QuickSight) Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) Background or strong interest in financial analysis and cost accounting What You'll Love About Plus3: Direct Impact: Play a critical role in optimizing our cloud spend, directly contributing to our financial health and ability to deliver value to government clients.
