Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Program Graduate Assistant
Texas A&M University-San Antonio Reserve Officers' Training Corps Program Graduate Assistant is a liaison between the University and Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (SROTC). The ROTC Graduate Assistant assists the program's administrative and operational aspects. Responsibilities:
Assist in facilitating support and coordination of university day-to-day operations as related to the ROTC program. Provides administrative assistance to ensure exceptional customer service. Duties include telephonic and email correspondence ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction, screening calls and taking messages, arranging and scheduling appointments and meetings, and providing timely management of correspondence. Represent the SROTC for university internal meetings or events. Acting as the primary point of contact between the university, ROTC, and external agencies. Works closely with military instructors, university administrators, and community partners. Communicates program updates and requirements to key stakeholders. Develop administrative and technical procedures for the university. Research, interprets, complies with, and responds to inquiries about rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in accordance with FERPA. Monitors compliance with university policies and procedures. Prepare and maintain university level program records, reports, and documentation. Prepares and monitors university level budgets for ROTC operations, programs, events, and will serve as the purchasing agent. Reconciles procurement and travel cards and any difference or expectations between invoices and approved documents. Serves as the university accountability property officer. Maintains assets belonging to the College, maintains web pages related to the College, collaborates with other department administrative assistants, and coordinates the ROTC work and interaction within the university system. Direct students (cadets) with resource referral to appropriate university student services to include enrollment, academic advising, scholarships, housing, and career counseling...etc. Assist in on-campus coordination for recruitment activities to include event programming, student engagement, and program awareness initiatives. To include Commissioning Ceremonies, Military Ball or Promotion Ceremonies. May hire, train, and supervise student workers. Performs other duties as assigned. This position may require work outside of normal business hours (evening and weekend). Required Education and Experience:
Student must be enrolled in a master's program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio taking at least 6 credit hours. Must be in good academic standing with the university according to Graduate Student Academic Standing Standards and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Student must be familiar with the Texas A&M University-San Antonio Office of Military Affairs and its services. Preferred Education and Experience:
Military connected or veteran student status. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong interest in generating innovative ideas and initiating new programs. Knowledge of computers and software related to assist students in a university setting, including Microsoft Office. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills for working with students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Excellent customer service skills.
