Senior System Safety Engineer
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join us on the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team in Tewksbury, MA. As a Senior System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include: Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance. Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place. Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls. Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds. Additional responsibilities will include: Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses. Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including: Monitoring program technical execution, Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors). Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval. Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process. Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards. Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program. Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design. This position is posted as ONSITE and is based at the Raytheon Tewksbury, MA location. Qualifications you must have: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position. Experience with Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications we prefer: Experience in command and control systems and/or weapon combat systems Experience with DoD System Safety Programs Experience with safety standards (MIL-STD-882, AMCOM 385-17, JSSSEH, AOP-52, AR 385-10, MIL-HDBK-454, MIL-STD-1472, MIL-STD-1474, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-1425) Experience producing System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), and Hazard Tracking Logs (HTLs), and Hazardous Material Management Plans and Reports.
