Job Class Number: TRD252 Pay Grade: $13.15/hr Non-Exempt Business Unit Name: Solid Waste Disposal Reports To: Landfill Supervisor Summary: Under direct supervision of Solid Waste Landfill Supervisors, this position is responsible for the proper operation of the gatehouse, the computerized scales, inspection of incoming loads and compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations, which addresses solid waste issues pertinent to the landfill gatehouse operations. Essential Responsibilities

Operates the landfill's computerized scales and associated computer software. Updates electronic data, generating and running electronic reports on a daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis. Inspects incoming loads as needed to insure materials are acceptable in accordance with regulations. Conducts customer transactions, collects funds and prepares accurate bank deposits on a daily basis. Keeps gatehouse clean and requests supplies for its operation and maintenance as needed. Performs waste screening of incoming loads at pit area. Answers questions and explains rules and regulations to the general public, both over the phone and in person. Performs administrative duties for the Gatehouse, including but not limited to answering telephones, answering the two-way radio, preparing the daily deposit, correcting ticket mistakes and making change for customers. Gets change from the bank. Performs other cleaning or maintenance operations including picking up paper, stacking tires and general maintenance of buildings, grounds or equipment. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and two years of previous computer and data entry, bookkeeping or accounting experience. Waste Screening, Class C Certification is required. Completion of a Customer Service Class is preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License is required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing. Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools. Strong verbal and written communication skill. Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems. Ada Profile
