Student Teaching / Field Supervisor-Upper Peninsula

The student teacher supervisor supervises aspiring educators in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They offer feedback, facilitate seminars, maintain communication, collaborate with stakeholders, advocate for student teachers, and ensure accurate record-keeping to support their success in the teaching profession. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Regularly observe student teachers and provide constructive feedback orally and in writing. Maintain consistent communication through email and SVSU's online platform, offering guidance and assistance as needed. Facilitate small group seminars and attend larger professional development sessions to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. Participate in monthly supervisor meetings and collaborate with host teachers, administrators, and SVSU COE staff to ensure a supportive environment for student teachers. Complete required assessments and surveys, maintaining accurate records of student-teacher progress. Advocate for student teachers and serve as a liaison between them, host teachers, and relevant stakeholders to address any issues effectively. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervision Received: Reports to the Acting Assistant Dean/Director of Clinical Experiences Supervision Exercised: None Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Education or related field Extensive experience as a teacher and/or administrator within P-12 education Ability to successfully interact with students, faculty, staff, area school administrators, and teachers Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience and ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community. Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of College of Education fieldwork program preferred Knowledge of and experience in supervising PE/Health student teachers preferred Working Conditions: Duties are generally performed inside and not exposed to adverse conditions.
