The Graduate Marketing Assistant will support the American University Museum's Marketing & Publications Specialist in the strategy, production, and scheduling of social media content through Instagram, Facebook, and X platforms for the AU Museum. This includes creating posts surrounding museum exhibitions as well as advertisements for openings, gallery talks, classes, performances, etc. The incumbent will assist with the publication of catalogs by liaising with artists and curators to collect materials for their catalog. Assist with copying, editing (proof) essays, and didactic materials. Assist in producing marketing materials such as flyers and e-Blasts to be sent out to museum mailing list. Other duties as assigned. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Part-Time. This position offers approximately 10-15 hours per week. The incumbent is expected to be in the museum office one day per week, remote work is available for balance of time. This position is open only to AU graduate students. Salary Range
$18.95 per hour. Required Education and Experience
Social media experience (knowledge of social media marketing/strategy a plus). Strong writing (especially promotional writing) skills. Proof reading and editing skills. Detail oriented and organized. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel. Design skills and good design aesthetic (Canva required, InDesign highly desirable). Ability to communicate and coordinate/manage products with staff, artists, and curators. Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications/Journalism, or Design. Interest in Contemporary Art or Art Museums. Comfortable managing and reporting on projects. Other Details
