Teak Fellowship Algebra Instructor
The TEAK Fellowship is seeking an experienced middle or high school-level instructor to teach Algebra to TEAK Fellows in 8th grade. Instructors will work collaboratively as part of a team responsible for providing the curriculum structure. Teachers will teach approximately 15 students on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays during the Fall term (Sep 16 - Dec 18, 2025) with an option to renew for the 12 week Winter term (Jan - Apr 2026). Classes run from 4:45 PM to 6:15 PM at Fordham Prep. It is possible for the same person to teach both sections. The TEAK Fellowship is a ten-year enrichment program that offers New York City students from under-resourced communities intensive after-school and summer academic classes, transformational cultural experiences, secondary school, and college guidance, a vibrant internship program, and a robust support system. TEAK students earn admission/financial aid at our Nation's most prestigious academic institutions and graduate from them determined to make an impact on communities in need of their contributions and leadership. Duties include: Teach 1 section of Algebra to 8th graders for 12 weeks from September - December 2025 with the possibility of teaching during the 12 week Winter Term (Jan - Apr 2026). Provide 70 mins of instruction between 4:45-6:15 pm each Tuesday or Thursday (exact dates TBD) Use Google Classroom and assign up to 1 hour of homework weekly. Collect and grade Fellow homework weekly. Attend pre-semester new instructor meeting Attend 30 min weekly planning meeting Provide midterm and final grades, including writing student comments. TEAK offers generous compensation to its instructors.
