Sr. Network Engineer (No Remote)

Location: Washington DC We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer who will work on site to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure within our government customer. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. The Senior Network Engineer will work on site and lead customer network and system engineering functions to maintain, modify, and enhance customer network capabilities and services. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible to sustain existing network standards, equipment, and designs and identify and engineer beneficial upgrades, modifications, and technology insertions. Duties and Responsibilities Network Engineer with 10-12 years of experience Ability to work independently and in team environments Developing strategic project/work plans and working in large and small environments Installing, configuring, and managing network switches, routers, and firewalls (versed in OSPF, MPLS, SDN, and network monitoring) Work with vendors and other engineers to assess and understand technologies and develop proposed beneficial technical solutions for customer's environment. Define trade spaces for network hardware (routers/switches, WAN optimization, software-defined network, etc.) Develop and enforce security standards for networking equipment. Lead validation trials of platform/service designs. Assist deployment and operation of new technology platform/services Develop and maintain a network technology road map and be prepared to detail recommended hardware and software expenditures on short notice. Manage project schedules and aid quick identification and resolution of technical challenges and obstacles to keep projects on schedule. Perform independent research and report on findings. Work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain configuration management control in accordance with defined standards, policies, and industry best practices. Minimum Other Required Experience 4 years direct experience required in the management and administration of network infrastructure routers, switches, etc. in a high-availability infrastructure 4+ experience with layer 2 network protocols switching, including but not limited to: 802.1Q tagging, STP (and its variations), LACP, etc. 4+ years of experience with layer 3 network routing, including but not limited to: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS 4+ years of layer 4 IP protocol suites (TCP, UDP, ICMP, GRE, etc.) 4+ years of experience with access technologies such as LDAP, AD, RADIUS, TACACS/ISE Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and associated routing protocols such as (M)BGP, OSPF, etc Extensive knowledge of data center technologies, infrastructure and methodologies Cisco Operating Systems such as IOS and/or NX-OS Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational/coordination skills Proven project planning and management experience. Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required. Require US Citizen & No Remote
