After-School Program Assistant
Co-Curricular Program Assistants facilitate program activities under the supervision of a Lead Teacher. Must meet ADHS qualifications for Program Assistant. This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring educators or for those who love working with children. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position. After-school programs are open Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (earlier start on early release days). Approximately 15-20 hours per week. Duties & Responsibilities Assistant in supervision of up to 20 students in a classroom setting, under the supervision of a Lead Teacher. Facilitate homework, recess, and activities. Present lessons from the provided themed, classical curriculum. Cultivate and maintain relationships with academy staff and administration. Maintain a state licensed program. Substitute at another campus when needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths Some experience or college preferred but not required. The successful candidate will be a principled, professional leader with an independent work ethic and a heart of service to others. They must demonstrate sound business judgment and wisdom dealing with people. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be at least 17 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent or currently enrolled in high school or equivalent, possess or ability to obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card, and a negative TB test. Additional Requirements Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP fingerprint clearance card. Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately. Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the Phoenix metro area.
