Manager, EMS Operations

Summary: The Manager, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Operations will be responsible for managing the daily operations of current and future RRH EMS initiatives. They will ensure effective response to emergencies and maintain high standards of care. This includes supervising EMS personnel, managing logistics and resources, coordinating with other public safety agencies, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities: EMS Operations Management: Oversee scheduling, deployment, supervision, and performance of EMTs and paramedics while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. Regulatory Compliance & Resource Oversight: Maintain adherence to EMS, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations; manage training, certifications, equipment, vehicles, and medical supplies. Strategic Planning & Community Engagement: Lead budgeting, billing, and improvement initiatives; coordinate emergency response efforts and represent EMS in community outreach and preparedness planning. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Expanded): In addition to meeting the system-standard Heavy Work classification, EMS personnel must: Work in a variety of uncontrolled and potentially hazardous environments (indoor/outdoor, inclement weather, confined spaces). Maintain physical readiness to assist in lifting/moving patients using stretchers (up to 250 lbs with partner assist), medical equipment, and gear. Walk, kneel, crawl, and climb over uneven terrain or in emergency conditions. Transport essential medical equipment (e.g., EKG monitor, ALS/med bags) without assistance. Remain calm and focused in high-stress, emotionally charged situations. Required Qualifications: At least 5 years of verifiable experience in emergency medical services or related field. Bachelor's degree in EMS, Paramedic Science, business administration or a related field. Current State of NY National Registry Paramedic Certification. BLS/ALS/PALS Instructor. Preferred Qualifications: Master Degree in Public Administration. Ambulance Service Manager (ASM) and Communication Center Manager (CCM). Extensive knowledge in EMS protocols, best practices and regulations. Strong leadership skills to manage and supervise a diverse team of EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, mechanics and other emergency healthcare professionals. Excellent communication skills to interact with all levels of staff and community members. Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities to handle high-pressure, emergency situations effectively and efficiently. Proficiency in using EMS-related technology and equipment for the provision of inter-facility transport and 911 responses. Strategic planning and organizational skills for resource allocation, shift scheduling, and ensuring the readiness of medical equipment and supplies. Physical Requirements: H - Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires constant walking, standing or squatting. Pay Range: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
