The Sustaining Engineering Manager is a hands-on position responsible for leading and providing technical guidance to the Engineering team while contributing to the design and development of the Eos Batteries and Battery Energy Storage System. Accountable For:
Eos Energy's Sustaining Engineering Manager owns the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of our Znyth battery energy-storage hardware after it exits design and moves into volume production at our Pittsburgh facility. They will lead a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and battery engineers while working closely with manufacturing engineering and the production team. They will be the primary technical gateway between Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and the New Product Introduction team for all Eos batteries and battery systems. Responsibilities
Manages team supporting ongoing manufacturing and new product introduction of batteries and battery energy storage systems Act as a manager within the department by performing personnel management tasks as well as mentoring engineers and technicians. Acts as primary point of contact and lead liaison between development engineering and both manufacturing engineering and the production team Lead and perform troubleshooting tasks, root cause analyses, and implementation of corrective actions Work with the project management team to plan new product introduction activities and to ensure timely delivery of project goals Support the development and implementation of test setups, processes, and procedures to ensure product quality in production Leads team in executing Design Verification Testing effort of subcomponents or full product systems Lead the sustaining engineering team in continuously updating and maintaining documentation of all assemblies, including Bills of Material for ongoing production support Participate in future product roadmap development, Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and NPI planning Leads the creation of product and manufacturing process documentation Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to satisfy overall product objectives Ensure a safe work environment by following and championing health and safety guidelines and policies Interfaces with customers or suppliers as required in a technical expert role Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, in the spirit of an agile design group within an active technology company. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated expertise in root-cause analysis, FMEA, PPAP, test-equipment selection, and high-voltage ( Proficiency with SolidWorks (mechanical & electrical) and PLM/PDM workflows. Familiarity with data-acquisition / lab instrumentation, PLC programming, or industrial automation is a bonus. Working knowledge of design for plastic injection mold, large structural weldments, and sheet metal design & manufacturing Clear communicator able to translate between factory operators and design engineers; proven ability to influence without authority in a matrixed, high-growth environment Ability to champion processes and process creation to drive the company through scale-up Willingness to own and drive company and product improvement initiatives Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required. Master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred. Minimum of 8 years' experience required 2 years' experience in a leadership capacity (cross functional team leadership, project team leadership, or direct leadership) required. Travel

Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
