May perform cardiac procedures as required. Practices all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Produces quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Prepares patients for exams and provides information and instruction regarding the procedure. Responds to the physical and emotional needs of patients and assists them during exams. Positions patients appropriately for exams and observes them and equipment during the procedure. Reports and documents unusual occurrences and records patient conditions. Facilitates smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment and resources. Communicates in writing and verbally with all physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff to facilitate the continuum of care. Assists with patient transport as needed. Performs IV starts and contrast administration as required. As assigned by management, performs technologist duties of other registered modalities. Correctly inputs charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized during exams. Completes required paperwork for each exam performed. Prepares rooms, equipment, and exam materials needed for exams. Maintains technical operation of equipment and notifies service when necessary. Notifies supervisors of equipment problems and logs service calls/problems per departmental procedures. Maintains a clean work area for employees and patients. Maintains quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per departmental procedures. Proactively identifies problems and follows up with appropriate management personnel. Establishes a motivating rapport with physicians, staff, and system departments. Maintains high skill levels through ongoing education and meeting attendance, sharing information with staff where needed. Participates in clinical training for students and/or staff technologists. Actively participates in departmental quality and process improvement initiatives. Maintains compliance with all state, federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards. Demonstrates effective time management and is proactive in prioritizing workload to meet productivity requirements. Adapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
