Hartness Admissions Center Coordinator
Furman University prides itself on offering a high-touch, personalized campus visit experience. The Hartness Admissions Center Coordinator serves as the primary first point of welcome for all prospective guests to Furman University and sets the stage for a well-organized and intentional campus visit. The essential function of this role is to create a memorable visit experience for each and every prospective student and their guests, as well as other special constituent guests, who visit the University. This role also includes frequent engagement with current students who help to facilitate components of the daily campus visit experience. This individual will carry out daily operations of the Office of Admissions and the Hartness Admissions Center. This is a full-time, hourly position, with some potential for weekend and/or evening work sporadically throughout the fall and spring seasons. Key Responsibilities
Serves as a primary point of contact for Furman University to prospective students, parents, college counselors, Furman alumni, and other key constituents who help to support the college search process. Monitors the Hartness Admissions Center as needed and welcomes guests to campus. This includes managing the front desk, checking families in for campus tours, aiding in the dismissal of campus tours, and facilitating components of the daily campus visit experience such as hosted lunch visits, faculty appointments, and/or class visit opportunities for prospective students. Completes frequent inventory of campus visit supplies, manages the front desk, and coordinates logistics associated with facilitating the daily campus visit. Support the Associate Director of Admissions for the Campus Visit with guidance and daily oversight of the student concierges who help to facilitate the daily campus visit. Assist the Campus Visit Team in coordinating and processing components of the daily campus visit, such as printing of daily itineraries and rosters, confirming or cancelling of individual appointments, and aiding the Associate Director of Admissions over the Campus Visit Team in ensuring accurate tour rotation rosters for the Admissions Ambassadors student group. Relationship Management:
Develops healthy working relationships with all members of the admissions team. This individual will do as much as possible to ensure a positive working environment. Be willing to aid with projects and tasks related to the campus visit experience as necessary. As a member of the Campus Visit Team, the Hartness Admissions Center Coordinator will actively provide feedback and insight on existing procedures, always striving for efficient practices to support a personalized visit experience. Working alongside the Associate Director of Admissions responsible for the Campus Visit, the Hartness Admissions Coordinator will work to execute an engaging daily campus visit experience and provide support for special admission events throughout the year, which may include College Counselor Fly-in events, accepted student day programs, and prospective student open house events. Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelors degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from accredited institutions. Previous customer service or campus visit coordinating experience, desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Slate CRM, desirable. Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills, as this role requires frequent engagement in front of audiences of various sizes and demographics. Demonstrate patience, empathy, and enthusiasm in working with new individuals on a daily basis. Ability to manage time, remain organized, and troubleshoot and problem solve. Self-motivated, enjoys finding solutions to new challenges, and can thrive working independently, as well as with a team. The successful candidates will demonstrate strong organization skills, dependability, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Reports To: Assistant Director of Admissions
Work will also be directly associated with members of the Office of Admissions Counseling Team and members of the Operations Team. Work is performed independently except where the interpretation of law, policy, rule, complex procedure or request for exception is required. Work Conditions:
Work is largely performed under usual office conditions. The Office of Admissions is a student-facing office, which requires in-person work. This role may require some evening and weekend work throughout the year, most often during the fall and spring recruiting and yield seasons. This role requires on-going visibility in the Hartness Admissions Center and frequent engagement with the public. Completes performance review process with supervisor to understand job performance expectations and how they fit into the department and university goals.
