Mid-Level Infrastructure Administrator
ValidaTek is seeking a driven Mid-Level Infrastructure Administrator to support the design, implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of a Department of Defense Cybersecurity program. This role will work collaboratively with senior, mid, and junior administrators and cross-functional teams to ensure system availability, security, and performance. The successful candidate will bring hands-on technical skills, a proactive mindset, and a desire to grow their infrastructure expertise in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain enterprise servers, virtualization platforms, and storage systems. Perform system updates, patch management, and hardware/software upgrades in coordination with change management processes. Monitor infrastructure health using monitoring tools; respond to alerts, investigate anomalies, and resolve technical issues. Infrastructure Support & Maintenance Assist in managing on-premises and hybrid infrastructure (physical servers, virtual machines, cloud-connected systems). Support data center operations including hardware racking, cabling, and hardware replacement as needed. Execute backup and recovery procedures; ensure data protection and disaster recovery readiness. Collaboration & Troubleshooting Collaborate with application, network, and cybersecurity teams to support infrastructure dependencies. Participate in incident response efforts, performing root cause analysis and corrective actions. Document system configurations, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles for team use. Security & Compliance Follow established security protocols for system hardening, vulnerability mitigation, and compliance with organizational policies (e.g., DISA STIGs, NIST standards if applicable). Assist with audits, compliance checks, and remediation activities. Automation & Efficiency Use scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible) to streamline routine tasks and reduce manual work. Contribute to the development of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices where appropriate. Qualifications 3-7 years of experience in IT infrastructure administration or system administration roles. Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for a Top Secret clearance Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience supporting virtualization environments (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V). Basic to intermediate experience with SAN/NAS storage solutions and enterprise backup systems. Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG). Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration. Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Ansible). Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Working knowledge of ITIL-based service management (incident, change, and problem management). Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Excellent documentation, communication, and team collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Industry certifications (preferred but not required), such as: CompTIA Server+, Network+, or Security+ VMware VCTA or VCP Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator Associate Linux+ or RHCSA Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
