Adjunct Faculty Position

Cape Fear Community College

is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach CDL Truck Driver training to Electrical Lineworker students at the CFCC North Campus. The instructor will develop and update curriculum and provide educational material for courses, deliver classroom instruction through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions and testing. Courses will be delivered on ground. Instructors will provide instruction in motor vehicle laws and regulations, map reading, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, daily logs, defensive driving, freight handling, security, and fire protection. Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scores Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, also enter grading and attendance information in Web Advisor within deadlines Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate Maintain a lab area that is safe and clean Follow all OSHA rules regarding a safe workplace Demonstrate competencies regarding the handling of hazardous waste materials Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines Essential functions include: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations Communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: making observations, reading and writing, communicating with others, operating assigned equipment, handling varied tasks simultaneously Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment, handling varied tasks simultaneously, bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of making sound decisions, responding to questions, demonstrating intellectual capabilities Qualifications include: Knowledge of classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations Minimum education and training requirements include: A High School diploma or equivalent is required A certificate from an accredited driving program or specialized training at the level required to meet professional preparation of the assigned area of instruction For Truck Driver Training faculty; Class A CDL Valid NC driver's license with driving record that is within the parameters set by the college Minimum experience required: Five years of over the road (OTR) experience required Preferred education and training, experience, skills: One or more years of experience in an instructional setting as a tutor or teacher are preferred Special instructions to applicants: This position REQUIRES UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS AND/OR TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS be submitted in addition to the application.
