Adjunct Instructor Pool

Roanoke-Chowan Community College is looking to expand its adjunct faculty pool for potential future teaching opportunities. While positions may not be immediately available, qualified applicants will be reviewed and may be contacted when a position opens. Adjunct faculty are responsible for providing high-quality, effective instruction in assigned courses, either in-person or online, on a temporary, part-time basis. Employment as an adjunct faculty member is not guaranteed and is based on institutional needs. Only applicants who meet the required qualifications and credentials will be considered. The adjunct instructor will be responsible for teaching Information Technology courses (CIS, CTI, CTS, NOS, etc.) within the Information Technology Program, online and/or in-person (day, evening, or weekends). The instructor will foster a safe and orderly learning environment, grade assignments, provide relevant and adequate feedback, return student work promptly, and counsel students on their grades and progress. The instructor will guide, manage, and effectively facilitate the class. The instructor will develop classroom materials that align with course goals, design the course curriculum and schedule, and use assessment techniques to enhance learning and teaching. The adjunct instructor will be responsible for maintaining attendance and academic records, including syllabi, and submitting all required forms (both administrative and academic) on time. Additionally, the instructor will ensure consistent communication with their direct supervisor and with students. The instructor will also complete any mandatory or necessary training as assigned. Previous experience teaching online in a community college setting using Moodle LMS is a plus. The ideal candidate should be a subject matter expert, a self-starter, and a team player willing to take on additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Required for CIS 110 and CTS 115 Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, CIS, business or business/adult education, vocational education, instructional design, information technology, or related field with course work or experience in computer applications/ software computer engineering, or related field -or- 18 graduate semester hours in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, computer-based information systems (e.g., management, decision), business, vocational education, business/adult education or, information technology, instructional design, educational technology or related field with course work or experience in computer applications/software plus a Master's degree Required for all other program courses Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, CIS, information technology, or related field with course work or experience in computer applications/ software computer engineering, or related field.
