In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. Ines Mandl Research Foundation/American Austrian Fellowship Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Dr. Mathias Bostrom Lab Department/Service: Research Institute/ARJR Job Start Date: January 2026 Introduction: The Research Fellow will work in the laboratory of Dr. Mathias Bostrom Arthroplasty Lab on scientific projects related to osseointegration in as well as conduct data analysis focusing on osseointegration studies. The candidate should have demonstrated interest in adult reconstruction and joint replacement studies. Responsibilities: Tasks include bench research work, optimizing data collection and study design in the mouse model by analyzing pilot data, performing procedures in the lab, including mouse microsurgeries and anesthesia, serum collection, bioluminescence, CFU quantification, X-Rays, and MicroCT scans, X-ray, and preparing and administering proper antibiotic dosages. The fellow will meet regularly with Dr. Bostrom to review and interpret data and will participate in scientific presentations and meetings. During our bi-weekly research lab meetings, he/she will present research findings and contribute to group discussions. He/she will also attend several orthopaedic research seminars and lectures hosted by HSS and Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. Education Required: The position requires a M.D. or a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Immunology, and/or Bone tumor biology, or similar. Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently. This position provides opportunities to develop strong translational research experience relevant for individuals interested in furthering their career in advanced research and clinical training. Experience Required: The fellow will demonstrate a high level of understanding of immunology, genomics, and inflammatory diseases, will apply advanced concepts from the scientific literature to their work, and will have the potential to develop into an independent scientist. Skills Preferred: Knowledge of Orthopedic and/or Rheumatologic terminology is a plus.
