This position consists of a Research Assistant supervised by the Senior Educational Program Director in the Dispute Resolution and Monitoring (DRM) section of the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS). This position will work closely with the DRM section and the support staff from other sections. The person in this position is expected to perform highly responsible administrative work as related to the statutory regulations of the education profession in the State of Florida. This position requires excellent communication skills in dealing with the public, appointed commissioners, and members of both the legal and educational professions. This is a great opportunity for someone highly organized, detail-oriented, and can communicate effectively. The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions: Review requirements for publications, documents and forms in the bureau Answer phones Coordinate communication and scheduling for required activities Assist with tracking and filing papers and electronic documents Research materials for professional staff for conferences and meetings Tracks and updates data systems in Excel The ideal incumbent must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The incumbent must interact courteously with others. The performance and behavior of all employees must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect the productivity and morale of the unity. Attendance is an essential function. This is a student position. The applicant must currently be a student and able to provide class schedule on request. Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with multiple stakeholders The Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services administers programs for students with disabilities. Additionally, the Bureau coordinates student services throughout the state and participates in multiple inter-agency efforts designed to strengthen the quality and variety of services available to eligible students with disabilities.
